About Forbes & Cameron

Forbes & Cameron is a 58′ gaff-rigged pinky schooner. She is built of BC yellow cedar, triple-diagonal planked. She has 2 centreboards. Her draft is 5′ with the boards up and 8′ with the boards down. Her beam is 12′.

The mainmast is 55′ tall and the fore is 35′. Both are hollow, built of fir. They are finished with 6 coats of cetol.

The fores’l is loose-footed. In 2006 a roller-furling jib system was installed. The system is called “Reef-Rite” and is made in New Zealand.

The boat carries a Main, Fore, Jib, Fisherman Stays’l, a Gaff Topsail, a Spinnaker, and also has a Storm Trys’l.

Forbes & Cameron was designed and built by Tony Latimer, in Cobble Hill, BC, Canada. Tony began drawing the boat in 1977. Launched in Cowichan Bay in 1986, she had her first sail in 1992.

She left Heritage Harbour, at the Vancouver Maritime Museum on June 1st, 2008, for a 2 month shakedown cruise of the BC Gulf Islands.

Forbes & Cameron will be entered in the Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend, September 5-7, 2008.  After the Festival, she will be heading south for San Francisco.
